A body sherd of New Forest slipped fine ware pottery of late Roman date. The fine fabric is a reduced light grey and the vessel has a dark grey slip both internally and externally (New Forest fabric 1a). The sherd probably formed part of a globular or bag beaker. The incised wavy parallel lines on the exterior surface are a decorative feature typical of the early fourth century AD. Dimensions: 39.5mm by 32.6mm by 4mm Weight: 6.3g

Three sherds of Samian ware pottery of early Roman date. One sherd is a rim sherd with an external bead and the other two are base sherds with footrings. The fine fabric is an oxidised mid-orange and there are traces of a shiny dark brownish-orange slip on some surfaces. The vessels were probably produced at one of the Central Gaulish centres, judging by the moderate limestone and mica content. Total weight: 34.9g
