An incomplete cast copper alloy plate brooch of Roman date. The oval brooch measures 30mm by 25.2mm by 2.4mm and weighs 7.2g. The front of the brooch is divided into two recessed sections: a central oval and an outer border. There are traces of red enamel in the border. The central recess is empty. The back is flat and undecorated. At one end is the hinge, which contains iron corrosion, presumably all that survives of the pin, and at the other end is the stub of the catchplate. The incomplete cylindrical wings conceal the axis bar for the missing hinged pin. The bow is initially straight, then curves downwards. On the front at the point of this change in angle there is a circular boss with a faint stamped cross-shape. The bow has broken about 5mm below this. An incomplete cast copper alloy one-piece Colchester brooch of early Roman date. The surviving portion measures 61.2mm by 26.5mm by 3.4mm and weighs 7.3g. One side of the wings survives, but the spring mechanism and pin are missing. The bow narrows towards the pointed foot, which has a flat semi-circular catchplate on the reverse. There are two pairs of recessed vertical linears on the front of the brooch. Between these, at the top of the bow, there is a small slightly domed circular boss. The back is hollowed.

An incomplete cast copper alloy trumpet derivative brooch of early Roman date. The brooch measures 44.8mm by 21.2mm by 13.8mm and weighs 27.7g. The wings are incomplete but appear to have been semi-cylindrical originally, in order to hide the spring for the (missing) pin. A small amount of iron corrosion in the centre of the back of the wings suggests that the pin was made of iron.
