Medieval English copper alloy jetton with a shield on the obverse and a sterling cross and pellet design on the reverse. The shield is divided into quarters the 1st and fourth are checky and the 2nd and 3rd have an unclear design. There is a punch mark in the centre of the reverse. It is not paralleled in the usual sources but is similar to other serling jettons and rougher contemporary pieces, some of which may be official but at the cheaper end of the market. cf Mernick and Algar (2001:224,) no 50 which has a similarly better made reverse with a crude obverse and is dated to the …

Medieval English copper alloy jetton of the sterling head type. Bust/cross patonce design, c.1310-1314 AD. Similar examples can be seen in Saunders (ed., 2001; 253), no. 19 and Mitchiner (1988:95) no.117. There is a central hole, common on these jettons to prevent them being silvered and passed as coins.

A Medieval copper alloy Jetton, probably dating to c. AD 1310-1314. Sterling bust type. the obverse depicts a crowned bust facing, probably class 11 with a damaged left jewel, the reverse a long cross pattee with a cinquefoil in each quarter. Pellets around the outer circle of both faces, 5 in each quarter of the reverse. Berry type 2d.16.42. There is an attempted central perforation, drilled from the obverse.

An incomplete medieval French copper alloy jetton struck under Charles VI and dating to c. AD 1385-1422, Shield of france modern / triple stranded cross fleuretty design. Michener (1988: 176) catalogues some very similar examples (Nos. 442a-445) and some others somewhat less well matched are listed in Saunders (2001: 233-234, 256), Nos. 125, 129 and 140. It appears double struck.
