One edge of the coin has been bent up and the other down to create an S-shaped profile. Coins modified in this way are often referred to as 'love tokens'.

Post medieval silver shilling of William III (1694-1702), unclear bust, harp and crowns, unclear date, AD 1695-1700, minted at London.
One edge of the coin has been bent up and the other down to create an S-shaped profile, one edge was then straightened. Coins modified in this way are often referred to as 'love tokens'. Although as it has been straightened this coin could also have been returned to the general money supply.
