Roman cast copper-alloy T-shaped or hinged dolphin brooch dating to c. AD 60-100. The lower part of the bow, foot, part of one wing and the pin are missing to old breaks. The brooch head has open-ended cylindrical wings, now 36.1mm wide, containing an axis bar for the hinge. Both ends are worn and one is partially broken with a worn break. An extremely corroded and incomplete probable finger-ring of Roman date. The object appears to consist of a thickened bezel of rectangular form, rounded at the top from the ends of which extend shoulders and hoop in a continuous curve. The hoop has broken around halfway down each side with the truncated remains abraded to a point on both sides. The hoop is broadly D-shaped in cross-section, with a flat internal surface (int. dia.: c. 19.2mm). A dark-green patina survives in small patches, particularly on the underside of the bezel.
