A fragment of an early-medieval copper-alloy object, probably a strap-end. The remaining fragment is cast with openwork Urnes-style interlace patterns showing a profile animal in a figure of eight shape. Two main strands of interlace form the design. One thick strand in a figure of eight represents the body of the animal, with its head at the top right and tail top left. Treasure case 2016 T564: Acquired by Dorset County Museum A silver penny of Edward the Confessor which has been modified by gilding and piercing, probably to form a brooch. The gilding covers the reverse and edges of the obverse. Three circular holes have been drilled through, burrs around the edges suggest this was mainly from the obverse. The holes are situated near the edge at 1 o'clock, 5 o'clock and 8 o'clock (seen from the reverse). A crack runs between the one at 1 o'clock and the edge. Early medieval copper alloy strap end of Thomas Class A. The strap end has a split attachment end with two circular rivet holes, both retaining copper alloy rivets. The split end terminates in an old break. It expands in width from 10.10mm at the broken attachment end to a maximum width of 18.65mm before tapering to a knopped terminal measuring 3.31mm in width. Early Medieval cast copper alloy applique for a hanging bowl with red enamel inlay and possibly devolved zoomorphic decoration, probably of 7th century date. The applique is almost flat with the ends bent back slighty, possibly from damage or to fit the curve of the bowl. The recessed strap bar is very short, only about a third of the lengh of the inner edge. A complete, copper alloy, early medieval mount c. AD 1000 - 1100. The terminal is zoomorphic with a possibly canine form. There is a small knop for the nose, elongated snout, irregular, pierced holes for the eyes, and moulded decoration on the head. Above the nose there is a small attachment lug with a circular perforation. At the bottom, below the domed head, are two projecting knops, possibly representing ears. The rear is deeply convex.
