Mitchiner (ibid. p.364), writes 'the anonymous stock jetons of the 'Lion of Saint Mark' series would thus appear to extend from cira 1500 down to the time of Hans Schultes I. Insofar as the issues of Damianus Krauwinckel (d. 1581) are stylistically later than both the anonymous issues and those of Hans Schultes I (d. 1584) one should probably date the end of the anonymous stock issues to the years around 1570'.
