An incomplete post-Medieval silver halfgroat of Charles I (AD 1625-1649) dating to AD 1625 to 1649. Unclear initial mark. Unclear mint. North (1991: 161) nos. 2250-2251. The coin has a large section missing from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock on the reverse side. There is a small hole (c.2mm diameter) punched through the coin from obverse side close to central. There is also a an outward bend from 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock on the obverse side.

The coin has a large chip on its edge on the left when looking at the bust and a small section has broken off opposite this, along a probable crack as the break is patinated.

Post Medieval silver half-groat of the Commonwealth, dated AD 1649 - 1660. Mint of London. North (1991: 206) no.2728. The coin has been pierced once, half way between the edge and centre with an irregular, sub oval hole, at 11 o'clock on the obverse and 1 on the reverse. projecting edges both sides suggest it pierced from the obverse then the hole widened from the reverse. The coin was also folded into an S shape, a modification through to have been used on 'love tokens'.
