A copper alloy silver plated contemporary copy of a halfcrown of Charles I (AD 1625-1649) dating to AD 1634 to 1649. The coin has a thin sheet of silver over the top onto which the dies were stamped. One face of the silver has been almost worn smooth while the other bears the trace of an round, garnished, royal shield. Due to the condition of the coin a closer date cannot be determined.

Incomplete post medieval silver shilling of Charles I (1625-49) dating to AD 1639 to 1646. Group F. Tower mint. North (1991: 160) type 2231 or 2232. The coin has been clipped all around the edge down to the inner beaded circle, such that none of the obverse inscription or initial mark can be seen. Such clipping is typical of the late 17th century, before the recoinage of 1696.

It measures 12.9 mm in diameter, 0.8 mm thick, and weighs 0.57 g. The coin contains a copper-alloy (brass) wedge which was added to negate counterfeiting. This is located at approximately 12 o'clock on both faces. The circumference is slightly abraded.
