The pendant is roughly D-shaped with a semi-circular upper edge and an irregular but broadly straight lower edge. Cast copper alloy pendant consisting of a central circular convex boss with a bifurcating terminal at the opposite end to the suspension loop which is on a perpendicular alignment. One arm of the terminal has broken off but the other one seems to be complete and would have not continued to curve around to form a fleur de lis. The pendant would have been suspended from a plate or frame which would have been attached to the leather strap or textile. Read (2016) illustrates similar pendants with circular convex bosses and bifurcated terminals on pp.61 & 63, nos.438 & 463, which are …

Treasure case 2012 T243: Acquired by Somerset Museums Description The object comprises a gold coin set within an iron mount. The coin was produced in central-southern Britain during the late Iron Age, probably between about 40 BC and 20 BC. Although little detail of the original design survives, it is an example of a coin-type known as 'British Qb'. These coins are traditionally ascribed to the Atrebates, a people thought to have lived in the Hampshire area in the Iron Age. In fact, find-spots now suggest that these coins may also have been produced further to the west in Gloucest…

A Medieval pendant in the form of an ivy leaf. Two of the points of the leaf are slightly bent out of shape. The pendant is likely to have decorated costume as one of a series (see G Egan and F Pritchard, Dress Accessories c1150 - c1450, [London 1991] no. 1188, pp. 217-218). The ivy leaf was often taken to signify constancy in the Middle Ages. The pendant is silver and dates from the first half of the fifteenth century.
