A small tertiary flint flake, probable debitage of late Mesolithic to Middle Neolithic date c. 7000 - 3500 BC. The flake is of light to dark grey with ridge scars from previously struck flakes on the dorsal surface, and ripples on the ventral surface. The small bulb of percussion suggests the flake was struck with a soft hammer.

Two secondary knapped flint flakes. One is complete, struck form the side of a previous removal with a prominent bulb of percussion on the ventral face. About 20% of the dorsal face is still covered in in cortex. The edges are chipped and a large notch in one edge is probably damage. 43.1 by 28.8mm and 8.2mm thick and 6.96 grams, dark brown-black flint. The second is the distal end of a larger flake, c.40% cortex on the dorsal face covering the distal end. The ripples on the scars from previous removals on the dorsal face suggest they were removed from the same platform. 43.9mm long b…

Knapped tertiary flint flake, undiagnostic in date and therefore dated from the Mesolithic to the Bronze Age. It is incomplete as there is some recent damage to its edges. There is a prominent bulb on the ventral face with an adjacent scar. The dorsal face features numerous longitudinal removals generally from the proximal end. The flint is grey, stained brown. It measures 34.9mm long by 28.2mm wide and 6.8mm thick; it weighs 6.36 grams.

Six fragments of knapped flint flakes/blades probably of Neolithic - Early Bronze Age date. All but one are tertiary pieces.
1. Proximal end of a flake or blade. The flake has been struck off a platform with a clear bulb of percussion, bulb scars and ripples on the ventral face and scars from previous parallel removals from the same platform on the dorsal face. There is a straight snap at the distal end. The edges are badly chipped but there is no clear retouch. The flint is mid-pale grey-buff with paler mottling. It is 31.2mm long by 24.1mm wide by 8.7mm thick; it weighs 8.24 …

One small flake and one fragment of a flake probably of Neolithic - Early Bronze Age date.
1. The flake has been struck off a platform with a clear bulb of percussion, bulb scars and ripples on the ventral face and scars from previous parallel removals on the dorsal face. There is a hinge fracture at the distal end. There is a small area of cortex (less than 10% of surface) down one edge, it is thick and white suggesting this may be flint from chalk rather than local pebble flint. The edges are chipped but there is no clear retouch. It is 24.5mm long by 17.4mm wide by 4.7mm thick;…

Small knapped chert flake, undiagnostic in date but probably Neolithic or Bronze Age. Small bulb of percussion on the ventral face. c.10% of the original surface (cortex) remains at the distal end which is thickened. Aris and ripples on the dorsal face suggest at least two previous removals from the same direction. There appears to be at least one accidental break at the distal end on the dorsal face. Mid buff-grey chert. 33.3mm long by 21.5mm wide and 7.7mm thick; it weighs 5.05grams.

Small knapped flint flake, undiagnostic in date but probably Neolithic or Bronze Age. Possibly incomplete as there is damage on the ventral face at the distal end. Large bulb of percussion covering most of the remaining ventral face. Struck off a patch of cortex at the proximal end. Some possible starch fracturing on the ventral face and the right edge in particular may be shaped by a more recent break. The edges are chipped most of the way around but there is no clear evidence of deliberate retouch. Dark grey flint with large opaque pale grey patch. 28.3mm long by 21.7mm wide and 7.6…

A knapped chert flake probably Neolithic in date. There is a prominent bulb of percussion at the proximal end although a later accidental break has removed any evidence that would have indicated whether there was a platform or not. On the ventral surface on the right side there is further evidence of accidental breakage leaving a rough edge also apparent on the dorsal surface. Four parallel aris run down the dorsal surface of the flake suggesting previous removals from the same platform or direction and at the distal end patches of cortex are still apparent. There is no evidence for r…

Two worked flint flakes, the paler grey flake, that is sub-rectangular in plan, has been worked from multiple platforms on the dorsal face to create an edge-trimmed flake but not a distinctive tool. The darker brown flake, that is lozenge-shaped in plan, has been worked on both margins of the dorsal face into a point at the distal end, perhaps in preparation for a Neolithic leaf-shaped arrowhead, but not completed. There is short scalar working from different directions on the dorsal face but it has not been made flat enough to be aero-dynamic as a projectile. The bulb of percussion h…

Flint waste flake, sub-rectangular in plan and triangular in section, that has been snapped off from a larger implement at the proximal end and is likely to be a waste flake from the Neolithic period. There is also damage at the distal end and elongate parallel flaking scars dorsally. The jagged edge of the right margin of the dorsal face is not retouch and the notch is certainly damage, so the flake has not been worked and is waste material. Some cortex remains at the distal end of the dorsal face denoting that it is a secondary flake and the grey-brown colour also suggests that it i…

Four fragments of knapped flint flakes and blades. Three are distal ends and one a central section. All have ripples from knapping on the ventral face. The arises and direction of percussion ripples on the dorsal face suggest two smaller (1.61 grams), dark-mid grey flint pieces came from cores where there had been multiple parallel removals form the same platform in the same direction, one of these may have been snapped deliberately with a notch worked in the flint and then snapped across. The other two appear to be from multi-directional cores and are a mid grey flint (6.18 grams). A…

Knapped chert flake with extensive damage around edges. Prominent bub of percussion on the ventral face and part of the striking platform at the proximal end. Parallel aris running down the length on the dorsal face with percussion ripples suggesting previous parallel removals from the same core. The chert is a dark grey and has developed a white surface patina. Extensive chipping around the edge has removed the patina suggesting the chipping is later damage rather than contemporary with the working. 27.2mm long, 25.2mm wide, 6.9mm thick and 4.51 grams. It is probably Neolithic or Bro…

Knapped flint tertiary flake. It has a hinge fracture at the distal end and was probably supposed to be a blade. Prominent bub of percussion on the ventral face and part of a striking platform at the proximal end. Parallel aris running down the length on the dorsal face with percussion ripples suggesting previous parallel blade like removals from the same core. Mid grey flint with paler mottling, 29.0mm long, 24.4mm wide, 4.3mm thick and 3.56 grams. It is probably earlier Neolithic in date.

Four knapped chert flakes. All have clear bulbs of percussion on the ventral face and arises and percussion lines from previous flake and blade removals from the same core on the dorsal face. Two have damage at the proximal end making it unclear if they were struck off a platform while the other two have parts of the platform. One has a hinge fracture at the distal end. One has breaks at the distal end and chips ont he side but these lack the patination of the rest of the piece and are clearly more modern. Two are in a mid buff chert and two in a dark grey-buff. Two knapped flint flakes. One is a large tertiary flake with a prominent bulb of percussion with large bulb scar on the ventral face. The arises and percussion ripples on the dorsal face suggest the core was worked from multiple directions. The proximal end is irregular but chipped along it's entire length, possibly from use. It is in dark grey flint and weighs 8.21 grams.
The second again has a prominent bulb of percussion on the ventral face but there is part of the platform at the proximal end and percussion ripples which suggest multiple removals in the same direction. It is a …
