Six sherds of samian ware pottery of early Roman date. Three are body sherds and three are rim sherds. Two of the rim sherds have external beads and one is plain. All the sherds are oxidised throughout with shiny brownish-orange slips. The fabric contains moderate very small limestone pieces and occasional voids, so the vessels were probably produced at one of the South Gaulish kilns. Total weight: 44g

Nine sherds of South-East Dorset Black-Burnished Ware I pottery of Roman date. Five are rim sherds, three are body sherds and one is a base sherd. The largest rim sherd is from a flanged bowl, three others are plain and everted and probably come from jars and the other is flat and appears to have come from a lid with a groove parallel to the rim. Part of a strap handle from a large jug of medieval date. The abraded sherd is from the junction between the jug's rim and one end of the handle. There are several deeply scorely slashes on the exterior surface. The sandy fabric is a reduced light grey with oxidised orange surfaces. There is a trace of glaze on the exterior face of the handle. A cast copper alloy stud of probable sixteenth century date. The one-piece stud measures 21.3mm by 20.5mm by 2.4mm and weighs 3.4g. The terminals are in the form of fleurs-de-lis and in the centre is a flower. The back is flat and the front is convex. The stud has a square cross section and has been bent sideways. There are faint traces of silvering or tinning on the front of the stud. A broadly similar stud can be seen in Read's History Beneath our Feet (1995, pp. 115-6, no. 742).

An incomplete cast copper alloy strap fitting of probable late fifteenth to sixteenth century date. The fitting measures 28.8mm by 13.7mm by 2.3mm and weighs 3.9g. It consists of a sub-rectangular plate with a shallow pointed identation at the wider end. The other end is broken, but it would have terminated in a backwards curving hook, which would have held a cast copper alloy ring. The main part of the fitting is perforated by two equally spaced central rivet holes, one of which contains iron corrosion. The front of the fitting is slightly convex and the back slightly concave. It is sandy with moderate angular quartz (up to 2mm), flint (up to 5mm) and sparse sub-rounded iron oxide (up to 2mm). The fabric of the glazed sherd is finer with smaller inclusions.
