A Medieval copper-alloy English jetton of the sterling/allied series dating to c. AD 1280 - 1350. Berry type 6B: obverse lion's head with tracery, reverse three armed cross within a trefoil. Mernick type 4f.3.6. On the obverse is a small central indentation. The jetton is bent, being concave on the reverse. Barnard points out that the geometrical tracery is similar to that seen in the window of the vestry at Merton College, Oxford, dated about 1310 (Berry:35). Very similar to PAS database DOR-5F49B7; see also CORN-98653E. This small cluster may, or may not, be significant.
