One end of a gilded silver strap fitting with gold, garnet and blue glass inlays, dating to the first half of the seventh century AD. The piece consists of one end with attachment rivets, and the stub of one side of a broken probably rectangular plate with narrow sides around a probably rectangular hole in the centre. The strap end is a flat plate, split at the attachment end with two rivet holes to hold the strap, now both broken through. It has convex sides and a slightly convex terminal. An incomplete copper alloy mount or clasp of medieval to post medieval date (c. AD 1350 - 1650). The mount commences in an old break and has slightly concave long edges. The rectangular plate exhibits two rivet holes, arranged on the long axis, which retain the corroded remains of the iron rivets. Just below the second rivet is an incised horizontal groove. The plate tapers from a width of 9.55mm to 7.65mm before expanding to 8.42mm at which point it tapers into a projecting hook which terminates in an old break. A post medieval copper alloy mount dating to the period c.AD1600-1700. The mount is asymmetrical, with a pointed trefoliate terminal at one end. Below this is a knop projecting from one side. There is no evidence of a similar missing lug on the opposite side. The mount expands in width from 5.99mm below the knop to 16.72mm.
