A fragment from a copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative large south-western T-shaped brooch of Hull T139, dating to c.AD 50-150. The brooch is missing its foot and pin. The wings of the brooch are 25.73mm wide and are cylindrical with a maximum diameter of 4.89mm at the bow and narrowing slightly towards their tips. Their front faces are decorated by a double incised line placed close to their outside edges. An incomplete copper alloy transverse wing terret dating to the Iron Age (c.100 cal BC - AD 100). About one third of the ring survives. The surviving fragment is made up of a circular cross sectioned bar bent into a curve that would have originally being circular or D-shaped in Plan. A Roman folding knife handle. The handle is made of a moulded copper alloy sheet folded over itself but not quite flat leaving two edges slightly open. In its folded state it is broadly rectangular in plan and cross section depicting a stylised hound chasing a hare.
