A complete forged copper alloy spiral finger ring of probable Iron Age to Roman date (c. 200BC-AD 410). The ring is of Guiraud Type 7 (Guiraud 1989, 195-6). The ring is made from a forged bar of copper alloy 4.3- 4.8mm diameter wrapped around to form a ring, completing two full turns. The section of the bar is circular. The internal diameter of the ring is variable with a maximum of 22.1mm. Blades from such a core could have been retouched and made into scrapers, knives, or other tools.

The head is globular, flat on the bottom, with four intersecting incised grooves forming a flower or star decoration (external diameter 6.7mm, height 3.2mm). A complete Post Medieval copper alloy posy ring dating from c. 1600 to 1700 AD. The hoop is broadly circular in plan (it is slightly bent out of shape) and is shallow D-shaped in cross-section. There is a central vertical seam which stands proud of the rings surface. The inner face of the hoop is inscribed with the text: I LIVE IN LOVE, in Roman uppercase lettering. The terminal of the letter I splits into two curving serifs. There is no maker’s mark. The ring has corrosion to its surface rendering it a dark reddish brown colour. There are no visible remains of silvering or gilding.
