Description and identification The reported object is a cast gold finger ring with stone setting. It has an octagonal hollow bezel tapering upwards to form an oval aperture for the stone. Inside the bezel are the remains of a dark red cabochon stone, now sunken.  The band is flat, plain and slightly D-shaped in cross section. There is a small panel on each shoulder, decorated with a series of horizontal chased grooves. The band is misshapen, and the back of the bezel is plain and flat. Description of the finds Silver crossbow brooch, complete and well preserved with little sign of corrosion, apart from the pin, which is of copper alloy and only survives as badly corroded fragments. The knob at the head is quasi-onion shape rising from a double ridged collar. The arms are a hexagonal tube that houses a copper alloy axial bar for the pin, which was hinged. A complete silver-gilt posy ring of 17th or early 18th century date. The ring is heavy D-shaped sectioned hoop with a plain outer surface. The 2.5mm thick hoop is solid silver and was originally gilded. The gilding has largely worn off, particularly on the outer surface. The band shows a transverse line likely indicating that the hoop was created by bending a strip of silver and joining the ends with silver solder. One of three fragments of a Late Bronze Age copper-alloy leaf-shaped sword. The morphology indicates that the sword is of Ewart Park Type, a widespread type which belongs to the Ewart Park Metalworking Assemblage (c. 1000-800 BC) (Needham 1996; Needham et al. 1997). This is the third fragment, representing the lower blade- other fragments are recorded as NMGW-A49E88 and NMGW-A4A891. The brooch is comprised of the head, spring with a fragment of the pin, bow, foot and catch plate (overall length 49.7mm) with much of the pin missing in old damage.
