Introduction A Late Bronze Age hoard of 39 fragments representing a minimum of 38 artefacts was discovered by Dr Peter Anning on 2nd February 2021 while metal-detecting on a field following agricultural drainage work. Discovery (CG & AG) A Late Bronze Age hoard of six fragments, representing four artefacts, was discovered by Dr Peter Anning on 30th October 2020 while metal-detecting in a field under pasture in Pontprennau Community, Cardiff. Five fragments of silver badge in the form of a cockerel, made in repoussé technique out of thin sheet metal, and externally engraved to provide crisp details of feathers and wings. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of uncertain type. The brooch is fragmentary and is represented by the head and upper bow only, with a surviving length of 17.12mm and weighs 3.g. The brooch employed a copper alloy spring mechanism, probably secured by a Polden Hill type arrangement. The wings are eroded and have a surviving width of 17.99mm. The bow has a width at the head of 8.07mm and is of oval section. No decoration survives on the poorly-preserved surface of the brooch which has recently been coated in a wax.
