Roman iron bow brooch, of Dolphin or Polden Hill type and dating to the 1st century AD. The brooch has corroded and none of the surface detail is now discernible. One of the wings survive, but it is unclear whether the wings terminated with plates (Polden Hill) or remained open (Dolphin). At the top of the head there is a forward facing claw to tension the missing spring. The head projects slightly before the characteristic dolphin shape of the bow. The bow is of circular section and the foot of the bow has the remnants of the corroded catch-plate.
