The ring is made from a forged bar of copper alloy 4.3- 4.8mm diameter wrapped around to form a ring, completing two full turns. The section of the bar is circular. A complete Post Medieval copper alloy posy ring dating from c. 1600 to 1700 AD. The hoop is broadly circular in plan (it is slightly bent out of shape) and is shallow D-shaped in cross-section. There is a central vertical seam which stands proud of the rings surface. The inner face of the hoop is inscribed with the text: I LIVE IN LOVE, in Roman uppercase lettering. The terminal of the letter I splits into two curving serifs. There is no maker’s mark. The ring has corrosion to its surface rendering it a dark reddish brown colour. There are no visible remains of silvering or gilding.
