A complete forged copper alloy spiral finger ring of probable Iron Age to Roman date (c. 200BC-AD 410). The ring is of Guiraud Type 7 (Guiraud 1989, 195-6). The ring is made from a forged bar of copper alloy 4.3- 4.8mm diameter wrapped around to form a ring, completing two full turns. The section of the bar is circular. The internal diameter of the ring is variable with a maximum of 22.1mm. Description & identification The reported object is a decorative gold posy ring. The ring consists of a thin gold band, D-shaped in section, with a tightly set repeating pattern of tooled S-shaped indentations on the external surface, possibly for enamel, although none appears to have survived. The internal surface in engraved with an inscription which reads ‘Though absent yet constant’ in italic letters in sentence case. A complete Post Medieval copper alloy posy ring dating from c. 1600 to 1700 AD. The hoop is broadly circular in plan (it is slightly bent out of shape) and is shallow D-shaped in cross-section. There is a central vertical seam which stands proud of the rings surface. The inner face of the hoop is inscribed with the text: I LIVE IN LOVE, in Roman uppercase lettering. The terminal of the letter I splits into two curving serifs. There is no maker’s mark. The ring has corrosion to its surface rendering it a dark reddish brown colour. There are no visible remains of silvering or gilding.

Description and identification The reported object is a cast gold finger ring with stone setting. It has an octagonal hollow bezel tapering upwards to form an oval aperture for the stone. Inside the bezel are the remains of a dark red cabochon stone, now sunken.  The band is flat, plain and slightly D-shaped in cross section. Description of the find About half of a finger ring with a flat elongated oval bezel and the remains of plain loop tapering away from the bezel. A complete silver-gilt posy ring of 17th or early 18th century date. The ring is heavy D-shaped sectioned hoop with a plain outer surface. The 2.5mm thick hoop is solid silver and was originally gilded. The gilding has largely worn off, particularly on the outer surface. The band shows a transverse line likely indicating that the hoop was created by bending a strip of silver and joining the ends with silver solder. A cast copper alloy Roman finger ring of Henig Type IX, or Guiraud Type 9a (c.AD 200-410). The finger ring is solid cast and filed with eight flat undecorated facets on the outside edge, a smooth flat inner surface and straight sides. The band has an uneven width and thickness with a max width of 5.0mm, max band thickness 1.5mm, internal diameter 15.9mm, external diameter 19.6mm. An incomplete Post Medieval gold ring, dating from the mid-18th, to mid-19th century, c.1750 to 1850. The ring has a fluted bezel which is formed around the ring’s hoop. The bezel is crushed and the stone is no longer present. The bezel measures 3.39mm high, 6.11mm wide and 2.77mm deep. A complete copper alloy finger ring in the form of a buckled belt of uncertain date, possibly dating from late Medieval to Post Medieval. The ring is in the form of a buckled belt, made from a strip with an integral loop at one end. The end of the strip was bent around to form the hoop and inserted into the loop.
