Post medieval copper alloy cooking vessel handle fragment from a posnet or skillet of 16th to 17th century date The fragment is the handle terminal from a cooking vessel (with a surviving length of 77.4mm and a weight of 156.5g). The handle is of D-shaped section at the break (with a width of 28.6mm and a thickness of 12.4mm) with straight and near-parallel sides before the terminal. Post medieval copper alloy cooking vessel handle from a posnet or skillet of 16th to 17th century date The cast handle is from a cooking vessel and is near-complete, eroded at the terminal and includes a fragment of the vessel rim (with an overall length of 183mm and a weight of 240.8g). Post medieval lead vessel probably of 17th or 18th century date The vessel is incomplete with peripheral damage to one side and is of D-shaped form (with a length of 53.4mm and a weight of 66.2g). The distorted mouth is considerably expanded and incomplete on one side (with a surviving width of 54mm and a mouth depth of 15.5mm). Post medieval lead vessel probably of 17th or 18th century The vessel is near-complete with some peripheral damage and is of D-shaped form (with a weight of 210.5g). The mouth (60.7mm wide and 35.9mm long) has a stepped moulding (with a depth of 7.3mm - 13.9mm and 5mm thick) on the curved part only. One of the corners is higher (giving a maximum overall height of 34.5mm) and has a spout-like form. The interior of the vessel is uneven (28mm deep). A fragmentary cast copper alloy vessel handle from a pot or skillet, likely of Post Medieval date. The handle is cylindrical, circular in plan and measures 98.7mm in length. The handle is thickest at the end with a max diameter of 19.1mm. The end of the handle is smooth and flat with no evidence of percussion marks. The handle tapers gradually from the end and flattens slightly before curving towards the break resulting in a thickness of 12.8mm and width of 14.8mm. A leg fragment from a large cast copper alloy vessel, probably a cauldron, posnet or skillet likely of 16th century date, but potentially of late Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. 1300-1700 AD).  The fragment is incomplete, with the end of the leg missing and the upper portion ending in a break where it joined the body of the vessel. The leg has a surviving length of 93.6mm, width of 60.3mm, and thickness of 28mm, and weighs 293.6g. A fragmentary Post Medieval ceramic sherd from a vessel base, probably a handled cup/mug (‘tyg’) or jar, of 17th century AD date. The fragment is black glazed red ‘Cistercian’ ware with a surviving height of 21.0mm and width of 33.7mm. A sharp fragment is adhered to the inside surface of the base indicating an explosion in the kiln or misfire likely damaged this vessel beyond repair. The fragment has a smooth black glaze with a reddish fabric and weighs 8.85g. A similar fragment can be seen Gloucester pottery fabric type series (potsherd.net)
