Copper alloy vessel mount of uncertain date, possibly Roman
The mount is of looped form, probably representing the inner part of a hinge (with an overall length of 41.9mm and a weight of 13.6g). The attachment plate is of elongated lozenge form (with a length of 35.3mm, a width of 14.7mm and a thickness of 2.5mm - 3.7mm), which is slightly wedged, thinnest opposite the hinge. The mount was attached to the vessel by a single iron rivet, which is partially preserved (giving a surviving depth of 6.3mm).
