The delicate fitting appears to be near-complete (with a length of 24.6mm and a weight of 1.0g) and was suspended by an integral loop (8.4mm long, 2.9mm wide and 4.2mm deep), which has been coiled inwards to form the loop and projects to the front. Copper alloy handle, possibly of Roman date
The object is incomplete, broken at the narrow end (with a surviving length of 38.0mm and a weight of 4.5g). The complete end is of oval section and is rounded with an expanded terminal (with a width of 10.0mm and a thickness of 3.6mm). The handle gradually narrows towards a decorative double-ribbed moulding, which all the way around the fitting. The damaged end thins, as if to a blade (with a thickness of 1.1mm). The surface has a dark-green patina.
