Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Trumpet-derivative type and of 1st or 2nd century AD date The brooch is incomplete, missing the lower part of the leg, the chain-loop and pin (with a surviving length of 41.3mm, a surviving depth of 21.0mm and a weight of 8.0g). The pin is missing but the iron spring remains in place, secured between lateral lugs (with a width of 12.7mm) around an iron axis bar. Post medieval lead powder cap of 17th century date The cap is near-complete but is distorted (with a distorted mouth diameter of 25.9mm, x 14.2mm, a base diameter of 16-19mm, a width, including lugs of 26.8mm, a height of 17.4mm and a weight of 14.0g). Both lugs are present (with a width of 6.8mm, a length of 6mm and a thickness of 2mm). The mouth has no external mounding but ribs are evident running along the face between the lugs. The surface is heavily corroded with a pale white-grey corrosion and mid-grey metal.
