The mount is complete and was attached by two perforated and rounded side lugs (6.0mm long, 6.6mm wide and 1.8mm thick), and secured by separate rivets through carefully drilled holes (2.2mm diameter). Cast lead alloy strap hooked fitting of early Post Medieval date, and probably dating from the late 16th or early 17th century. The mount is likely to have been associated with a sword belt and is gently convex in profile. The rear has two integral rivets for attachment to the strap. The front is crudely decorated with cast ornament consisting of a raised border around a circular panel and two irregular openings flanking a raised ‘V’ at the base. The hook is outward-turning and is of circular section.
