Copper alloy zoomorphic mount, probably from a vessel handle or lid and of Early Roman date. The mount depicts a sitting quadruped with its front legs extending out in front of the body, and possibly representing a bear or a dog. The animal is naturalistic in style. The hair is depicted by incised lines over the body, except for the top of the back, where a rectangular panel is decorated with two incised diagonal crosses divided by a single incised line. Roman copper alloy vessel handle The handle is incomplete and is broken at one end, with a surviving length of 76.2mm and has a weight of 77.0g. Roman copper alloy vessel or furniture leg The leg is complete and has a length of 64.3mm and a weight of 15.7g. The top of the leg has an L-shaped bracket (with a length of 11.2mm and a width of 5.3mm) to support a vessel above. Remnants of a white adhesive or solder are discernible on the surfaces of the bracket. The leg is of sub-lozenge section and has an undulating curve to the foot. Carefully constructed cast copper alloy decorative vessel escutcheon or mount in the form of a boar. The boar has its front legs extending forward beneath its mouth forming a V-shape, the mouth is open and contains a small circular hole.
