Foot fragment from a Late Iron Age to Roman brooch, probably of Birdlip type. The fragment represents only the lower bow, foot and catch-plate and is 26.9mm high. The brooch is of an unusual construction, and appears to be made of sheet copper alloy, having a maximum thickness of only 1.4mm. The foot has a small projecting knob and the bow had two projecting rounded knops, the lower of which is larger with a depth of 6.0mm. No other decoration is evident on the fragment. The upper bow is curving before the break and presumably would have been approaching the head. The fragment weighs 1.0g.
