The button is incomplete, missing the loop (with a surviving depth of 4.6mm and a weight of 5.0g) and is of circular, flat form (with a diameter of 18.4mm - 18.9mm and a thickness of 2.9mm) with integral cast loop, now lost. The rear of the button is flat with the stubs from the missing loop. The face is decorated with a moulded geometric ornament comprising a raised border four convex arcs. Within the arcs, adjacent to the edge is moulded hatching. The central area is without decoration. The surface has a pale-grey patina.

Post medieval lead alloy button of 16th century date The cast button is of solid form with an integral looped shank and is complete but the shank is distorted (with a distorted length of 12.5mm and a weight of 4.4g). The loop is at the end of a short shank (3.3mm diameter) and has an oval aperture (4.2mm long and 2.9mm wide). The button head is circular and domed (2.1mm diameter and 5.6mm deep) and is decorated with cast radiating ribs and central pellet. The mouldings are worn around the apex.

Post medieval lead alloy button of 17th century date The cast button is of domed form with an integral square loop and is complete (with a weight of 15.8g). The domed head (with a diameter of 30.3mm – 34.8mm and a thickness of 5.7mm) has a ribbed border flanked on each side with a groove and at the apex is a raised knop. There is the suggestion of a decorative motif on the button now corroded, possibly a geometric floral motif, now corroded and lost.
