A fragment of a plated counterfeit siliqua of Valens (364-78), probably based on a piece of Rome (c.f. RIC IX 11b). It is a copy of the VRBS ROMA type siliqua and may have been recognised as a copy at the time and broken. It can be dated to after c.364AD as it was copying a Rome mint issue.
