Probably part of a cast copper alloy strap-type box mount. The mount is cast in copper alloy (probably bronze) with a central perforation and what appears to be a tapering terminal or knop but is where the mount has been broken. It is gilded on its upper surface and decorated with four probably white glass, rather than pearl, beads inset into the four corners of the main plate. Medieval copper alloy belt or strap mount The mount is of domed form and is incomplete missing one of the terminals and rivets (with a surviving length of 16.6mm and a weight of 2.6g). The mount was attached using two integral rivets, one of which survives (with a length of 4.2mm, giving the mount an overall depth of 8.5mm). The Mount was oval (with a maximum width of 10.1mm) with a flat border and an oval domed centre. The rear of the mount is slightly dished. No applied decoration survives on the surface, which has a dark green patina.
