A cast lead, iron, and copper alloy steelyard weight of roman date (c.AD 43 – 410). The weight is anthropomorphic, and is in the form of a female bust modelled in copper alloy around a lead core for the head and an iron core for the neck and chest. The head is rounded face on but somewhat flattened in profile. The detailing of the face and hair is executed only frontally, using moulding and incised decoration to form a round face with a fairly prominent brow, wide nose, almond shaped eyes, and full lips surrounded by coiffured hair. Lead steelyard weight probably of Roman date The lead weight is of biconical form and has lost the iron suspension loop (with a surviving length of 42.5mm). The remains of iron wire are evident at the apex . The weight is of irregular, sub-circular section and is widest around its midsection (with a diameter of 40.3mm - 44.3mm). Roman copper alloy vessel or furniture leg The leg is complete and has a length of 64.3mm and a weight of 15.7g. The top of the leg has an L-shaped bracket (with a length of 11.2mm and a width of 5.3mm) to support a vessel above. Remnants of a white adhesive or solder are discernible on the surfaces of the bracket. The leg is of sub-lozenge section and has an undulating curve to the foot. Lead pot-mend? Lead or lead alloy waisted casting sub-circular in shape, dished on one face (20 x 15mm) and slightly domed on the other (26 x 18mm). Probably a makeshift repair made from melted lead to fill a hole in a ceramic vessel. No trace of attached pottery. Date: Roman - Post-medieval (although Roman examples probably neater). Copper alloy vessel escutcheon and handle, probably of Roman period date. The handle comprises a looped escutcheon attached to the lower part of a handle. The rear or inside of the escutcheon has a rectangular plate (44.54 x 46.6mm) with a trapezoidal knop at the base (14.2mm long and 13.92mm wide). There are three perforations (of 3mm diameter) at the base of the escutcheon, two at the corners and one irregularly placed within the knop.
