A near-complete cast lead weight of probable Medieval date (c.AD 1350-1500). The weight is triangular in plan and rectangular in section (68.9mm long x 53.8mm wide at the base x 18.2mm thick) with a rectangular perforation/slot that is bigger on one side, probably the reverse (7.6mm long x 3.4mm tall) and is a narrow slit on the other, probably the face. The face is decorated with a moulded border stepped down from the flat surface of the face and defined by a deep groove along the inside edge. The weight was likely decorated with a motif on the front, but post-depositional damage and …

Cast copper alloy vessel leg, sub-triangular in section, which tapers towards its angled foot. The foot is separated from the main part of the leg by a transverse ridge in the angle. The weight of the vessel leg suggests that the copper alloy was leaded. Possibly the leg of a tripod ewer. Close dating is difficult because the form of the vessel legs remained similar from the late medieval period until the seventeenth century (Read 1995, 95); however, the distinctive transverse ridge in the angle of the foot and leg of this example is closely paralleled by a vessel leg recovered from a …

A fragmentary cast copper alloy vessel handle from a pot or skillet, likely of Post Medieval date. The handle is cylindrical, circular in plan and measures 98.7mm in length. The handle is thickest at the end with a max diameter of 19.1mm. The end of the handle is smooth and flat with no evidence of percussion marks. The handle tapers gradually from the end and flattens slightly before curving towards the break resulting in a thickness of 12.8mm and width of 14.8mm. The broken end retains some original surface (4.8mm from external surface to break surface) which informs on the way the …

A cast copper alloy vessel fragment of Medieval or Post Medieval date. The fragment comprises the foot of a potleg, likely for a cooking vessel (74.5mm long, 27.9mm wide at the bottom of the foot, 33.7mm wide at the break, 15.1mm max depth). The potleg is sub-trapezoidal in section, reaching its widest point at the break and tapers gradually to the foot. Much of one surface is covered in iron corrosion product suggesting iron was present in the deposition environment. The metal is a mottled green patina and weighs 152.28g. The proximity of other fragmentary vessels (NMGW-BC7A86,…
