Roman copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Part 3, Group 4.l, flat wing ends type), dating to the 80-160 AD The brooch is near complete, missing the pin and catch only, and has a length of 53.7mm and a weight of 10.3g. A loop-headed ringed pin, with slightly pitted, stripped surface and golden colour (typical of some beach finds). The ring has a dark corrosion layer on the surface, remnants of which also survive on the shaft. Crudely cast, slightly waisted, copper alloy vessel leg. Length 41mm, width 28-33mm, thickness 18mm, weight 77.4 grams. Identifying the vessel type that this leg is from is not possible. Presumably it was either a cauldron, skillet, jug or ewer. Close dating is equally difficult as the form of the legs like this did not change from the medieval period until the seventeenth century (Read 1995, 95).

Complete cast copper alloy vessel leg. Part of the apparently integrally cast body of the vessel remains attached to the leg. Length 78mm, width 16-17 mm, weight 115.2 grams. Medieval to post-medieval. The surface of the leg is preferentially blackened in comparison to the inside of the vessel body; this "sooting" is a common phenomena and is due to oxidisation of the outer surface of the vessel through exposure to the cooking fire.

Tip of a Middle Bronze Age rapier or dirk with a flattish mid-section and wide slightly bevelled edges. The surface of the fragment is corroded and its edges are damaged. The break is ancient. Surviving length 71.5mm, maximum surviving width 17mm, maximum surviving thickness 2.5mm. The fragment is an example of Burgess and Gerloff's Group IV (1981, 3, 62-112). It is not possible to identify which particular type of Group IV blade this fragment is an example of because the diagnostic features high up on the blade and butt have been lost.
