Lead pan weight of uncertain date The weight is complete (with a length of 18.5mm). Both faces are circular (with a diameter of 14-15mm). The sides are concave, producing a minimum diameter of 12.2mm). One of the faces has the suggestion of an incised design, possibly a star within a circular border. The weight weighs 25.0g, which is equivalent to 0.885oz. The weight is not diagnostic and is difficult to date the weight of 25.0g is broadly consistent with a 1oz weight of Medieval and post medieval systems.

Cast copper alloy collar fitting of uncertain date, possibly Iron Age The fitting comprises a comparatively substantial crude casting and appears to be complete but is a composite part, of U-shaped form (with a height of 27.3mm, an external diameter of 34.4mm, an internal diameter of 22.2mm and a weight of 62.5g). Both sides are straight and near parallel (with a width of 32.3mm at one end and 30.0mm at the other). The face has heavy ribbing, with a rib on each side and a midrib (giving a maximum thickness of 7.0mm). The terminals have integral lugs, which are likely to have enga…

Copper alloy decorative pyramidal terminal of uncertain date The terminal is complete (16.8mm long) but the ferrous attachment bar is fragmentary (giving an overall surviving length of 17.8mm and a weight of 5.3g). The terminal has a near-square base (10.5mm x 9.7mm), with straight flat sides converging towards the apex, enhanced with a spherical knop (5.6mm diameter). Little decoration survives on the terminal but the domed head of an iron pin (4mm diameter and 0.4mm high) is evident on one face, to secure the terminal to the shaft. Beneath the iron pin is the suggestion of line…

Copper alloy vessel rim and handle fragment of uncertain date, possibly medieval The cast vessel is fragmentary, represented by a rim fragment (40.5mm long) and the upper part of the handle (40.5mm deep and weighing 49.2g), soldered together. The vessel rim has little curvature across its width, suggesting a vessel of sizeable diameter. The outside of the vessel is straight along its length (23.1mm surviving length) and has no decoration. The interior of the rim is rounded (with a vessel thickness of 4.7mm). The vessel handle is positioned level with the top of the rim and is per…

An incomplete probable copper alloy stylus of Roman or Medieval Date. The stylus is 86.5mm long and is bent, so the original would have been of greater length. The thickest part is c. 3mm square in section, with the top 31.5mm of the object expanding and flattening towards the broken upper end, which is 6.1mm wide and 1.3mm thick. This flattened part would be used to erase writing on a wax tablet. The lower broken end of the stylus is 2mm by 2.2mm thick, tapering from the thickest section. The top edge and one of the side edges appear to be moderately rounded and are likely to be unmodified, while the other two edges are irregular and probably trimmed to the desired shape. Copper alloy tanged awl of uncertain date The cast awl is incomplete, probably only slightly truncated (with a length of 46.5mm and a weight of 7.9g). Damage at both ends now makes it difficult to determine the point from the tang. The awl is of sub-square section at both ends and gradually widens to its midsection (with dimensions 6.1mm square).
