Medieval copper alloy harness pendant, probably of late 13th or 14th century date The harness pendant is near-complete, missing only the top of the loop, but has very poor surface preservation. Part of a copper alloy purse frame with a cast copper alloy rotating suspension loop fixed to the horizontal bar by a rove. Both arms of the short, sub-rectangular sectioned horizontal bar are broken close to the rectangular-shaped central boss. Copper alloy outer case for a set of nested weights. Circular, with six external vertical ribs on cup and similar projections (poorly preserved) on lid. Maximum external diameter 40mm; internal diameter 36mm; internal depth of cup 17mm; maximum height 24mm. In its present condition (with corrosion around lid) it weighs 96.07g. There is ring-and-dot decoration around the rim top, and it is likely that the missing weights were similarly decorated. Probably fourteenth century in date.

Crudely cast, slightly waisted, copper alloy vessel leg. Length 41mm, width 28-33mm, thickness 18mm, weight 77.4 grams. Identifying the vessel type that this leg is from is not possible. Presumably it was either a cauldron, skillet, jug or ewer. Close dating is equally difficult as the form of the legs like this did not change from the medieval period until the seventeenth century (Read 1995, 95).
