T-shaped brooch with tubular wings, hinged pin and flat tapering bow. The bow narrows through a marked step mid-way along its length. The bow is embellished with a central rib flanked on either side by a narrow groove set adjacent to the edge of the bow which extend only as far as the step. Fragment of a cast copper alloy two-piece trumpet brooch. Only part of the bow and head of the brooch survive; the spring, chord, pin, lower half of the bow and catch-plate are missing. The surface of the brooch is heavily corroded and much original surface detail has been lost. The reverse of the brooch's head contains the remains of a perforated lug, which would have presumably accommodated an axial bar. The decoration on the middle of the bow consists of poorly defined moulding rather than a typical "acanthus" motif. No other decoration on the brooch is visible. Surviving length 43m…

A dupondius of Claudius I AD 41-54. Ceres Augusta Type Robert Kenyon, following on from the work by the French scholars P-A. Besombes and M. Bompaire (in Trésors Monétaires XXI, 2005), is working through the British examples of Claudian coinage recorded through the PAS assigning many so-called Claudian contemporary copies to Roman auxiliary mints which operated at Lyons (Gaul) and in Spain. This example could not be attributed to a mint.

The piece thins slightly beneath the perforation, before expanding at another incised swirl. There is a low waist marking the beginning of the plain shaft.
