Copper alloy finger-ring, probably a 'snake ring' of Roman date
The ring is of circular, coiled form and is complete with two coils (giving a maximum width of 13.4mm, an external diameter of 25.9mm, an internal diameter of 19.7mm and a weight of 15.1g). The hoop is of sub-rectangular section with a consistent thickness (of 2.8mm) and is widest at its midpoint (6.0mm), gradually narrowing towards the terminals. The sides of the terminals narrow more sharply, one terminal has a linear narrowing (6mm from the end) while the other terminal has a more gradual taper to a rounded end. It …

Copper alloy fitting of uncertain date and function
The fitting is of rod from and is complete (with a length of 65.1mm and a weight of 7.9g). The implement is of circular section (4.0mm diameter at the apex, widening to 4.8mm) before a rectangular-sectioned and tapering 'plug' at the terminal (15mm long and 4.4mm x 5.4mm, tapering to 2.9mm x 4.5mm) with a flat end. The other end has a small oval perforation (4mm from the end), presumably for securing or suspending it. No decoration is evident on the fitting. The surface has pale to mid-green patina.

Lead weight of uncertain date, probably medieval to post medieval
The lead weight is of suspension type with an integral loop at the apex and is complete (with a length of 40.1mm). The loop is rectangular-sectioned (4.4mm thick and 13.3mm long) with a central, circular perforation (5.8mm diameter) and is now slightly distorted. The body of the weight is sub-circular with straight sides, diverging towards the base (with a minimum diameter of 11.7mm and a maximum of 19.8mm). The base is flat and has four perforations, which appear to emerge on the sides, above the base. These may h…

Stone button of uncertain date
The button is sub-circular in plan and pointed oval in section (with a diameter of 14.5mm - 16.0mm, a thickness of 5.5mm and a weight of 2.4g) and appears to be made of a fine-grained black shale. Both faces are convex and have been polished to achieve the form. One face has two small parallel holes (of c. 0.8mm diameter) drilled through, from just above the edges. The line of the channels has been crudely scored into the surface above each channel. No other decoration is evident. The surface is abraded chipped.
The 'button' is unusual and is diffi…

Copper alloy mount of uncertain date, possibly Roman
The mount is incomplete, broken as it narrows to a shaft (with a surviving length of 11.0mm and a weight of 16.0g). The top face is circular (with a diameter of 22.3mm) and has a slight raised border (0.5mm high). At the centre of the face is an irregular ring (5.8mm diameter) with a crude, off-centre cell. No evidence of enamel is evident within either recessed area. A diagonal chord cuts the face, possibly a casting seam. The underside narrows to the break (where it has a diameter of 9.5mm) and is enhanced with a single incised g…

The terminal is in the form of a human head and has broken across the neck (with a surviving length of 18.6mm, a maximum width of 8.6mm, a maximum thickness of 10.4mm and a weight of 7.5g). The terminal is heavily-corroded and the corrosion has removed much of the detail, there are depressions depicting the eyes and a central ridge is evident indicating the position of the nose. Another depression surviving on one side only is likely to depict a ear. The surviving form and style would indicate a comparatively naturalistic de…

Copper alloy casting jet of uncertain date, possibly Bronze Age
The jet appears to be complete, comprising a single-runner and oval sectioned reservoir (with a length of 23.0mm and a weight of 30.0g). The oval top surface (26.7mm x 23.7mm) is concave, as the molten metal cooled. The sides converge towards the runner and are irregular, possibly suggesting use of a clay gate. The runner is of irregular sub-rectangular section (with a surviving length of 12mm and 10mm x 8mm). The surface has a dark-green to brown patina with areas of mid-green corrosion.
