A complete cast lead flat circular seal matrix of Medieval date (Probably 13th century AD). The seal is flat and circular although distorted. The reverse of the seal bears a lug at the top and is decorated with a central pellet and three concentric moulded circles. The 9.2mm long, 8.3mm tall lug is unperforated and bent sideways against the reverse of the matrix. The edge of the reverse is raised all the way around. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester Derivative Hinged (CD H) type (c.AD 43-120). The brooch is missing the pin, catchplate and foot. The tubular wings (c.2mm diameter) span a width of 27.0mm. Much of the original surface has been lost, but a single raised transverse moulding survives on one wing. Any decoration at the wing terminals has been lost. On the reverse, the rectangular pin slot is filled with iron corrosion and iron corrosion is seen at the ends of each wing, indicating the axis bar and probably the pin were made of iron. A near-complete cast tin alloy bead of unknown date. The bead is roughly circular in plan and sub-oval in section with external diameter of 13.6 and 8.5mm thick. The central perforation is warped but the side with less warpage has an internal diameter of 5.8mm x 3.9mm. The bead lacks diagnostic characteristics so a definite date cannot be obtained, however two tin beads are recorded from Medieval (15th century) contexts and examples are described by Egan and Pritchard (2002: 315-316 no. 1584, 1585). An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch (c.AD 85-100). The brooch consists of the head, bow, foot and fragments of catch-plate with a total length of 49.3mm (weight 11.16g). The spring, pin, and most of the catchplate are missing in old damage. An integrally cast D-shaped lug on the reverse of the head (8.1mm high x 6.1 deep x 1.9mm thick, 6.5mm) contains a small fragment of the sleeve and spring mechanism (surviving diameter of the fragment is 3.5mm).
