An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester Derivative Polden Hill brooch of Roman date (c. 75-175 AD). The brooch is broken at the bow, missing the foot at the pin with an overall remaining length of 24.7g. A perforated lug or crest secures the chord of the spring at the top of the brooch. From the lug, a raised central ridge is flanked by uneven sub-rectangular mouldings measuring 7.6mm and 6.7mm in length before squaring off and continuing 8.3mm and squaring off again, forming two sub-rectangular sections/steps on the bow.
