The object is a small complete silver seal matrix. It has an oval face and an octagonal facetted openwork handle. The octagonal handle tapers to a banded collar, above an openwork trilobed handle with flourishes. There is a small chip on the top left edge of the face.

Circumstances of discovery and reporting
A hoard of 37 Roman silver coins was discovered by David Henry Moss and Tom Taylor on 20th-21st December 2018 and 19th January 2019 in Caerhun Community, Conwy.
The coins were found while metal detecting on cultivated land that was under pasture at the time. The findspot (a National Grid Reference) of the coins and addresses of interested parties are given on the Treasure Receipt Form. The coins were discovered scattered in shallow rocky ploughsoil at depths of approximately 3-4 inches.

Circumstances of discovery and reporting
A ceramic pot containing 2733 Roman silver and copper alloy coins was discovered by David Henry Moss and Tom Taylor on 22nd December 2018 in Caerhun Community, Conwy.
The hoard was found while metal detecting on cultivated land that was under pasture at the time. The top of the pot was discovered at a depth of about 30cm below the surface of the field, at the top of a slight mound. Description of the finds
Silver crossbow brooch, complete and well preserved with little sign of corrosion, apart from the pin, which is of copper alloy and only survives as badly corroded fragments. The knob at the head is quasi-onion shape rising from a double ridged collar. The arms are a hexagonal tube that houses a copper alloy axial bar for the pin, which was hinged. About half of a finger ring with a flat elongated oval bezel and the remains of plain loop tapering away from the bezel. The bezel is decorated with a crudely scratched motif, probably intended to be a stylized palm branch.

Description of the find
Small silver object consisting of a small circular bowl on a long slender shaft that tapers to a point. The bowl is now at virtually a right angle to the shaft and the shaft is bent again about two-thirds along its length, but originally all would probably have been aligned. There is no additional decoration.

To judge from its colour and weight and visual comparison with brooches and other silver dress accessories in the collections of the Department of History & Archaeology, the alloy is well in excess of 10% silver.

Small silver annular stirrup brooch. Groups of transverse grooves inlaid with niello on both faces. The small stirrup has inturned ends and punched grooves along its edge, with two grooves forming an inverted V at the junction of pin and wrap-around head. The pin is complete and has a diamond cross-section, each facet being decorated with zig-zag grooves.

The diameter of the object is similar to that of a three pence coin and suggests that it has possibly been modified for reuse as a token. The object has a smooth surface with punched motifs, including of a bunch of grapes.

A complete silver-gilt posy ring of 17th or early 18th century date. The ring is heavy D-shaped sectioned hoop with a plain outer surface. The 2.5mm thick hoop is solid silver and was originally gilded. The gilding has largely worn off, particularly on the outer surface. The band shows a transverse line likely indicating that the hoop was created by bending a strip of silver and joining the ends with silver solder. An incomplete clipped, worn and damaged half real coin of Ferdinand V and Isabella I of Spain from the reign of the Reyes Catolicos (1469-1504), Likely issued between 1475 and 1504. The coin is heavily worn, cracked and bent. Uncertain mint, though the mark appears to be an A above a grid, possibly representing a portcullis or a griddle.

The coin is very worn to the obverse. It has breaks to the edges and is possibly lightly clipped.
Obverse: extremely worn, with the only remnant of the bust being a small section of beading from the dress. Inscription [ANG] F[R]A [Z] [HIB] [REGI]
Reverse: Long cross fourchée over royal shield. Inscription VERITA[S] [TEMPORIS] FILIA. Due to damage the mint mark is not visible.
