The two silver items are both fragmentary: Fragment 1: a small rectangular piece of hack-silver, cut from a silver vessel. All four edges have been cut, and there is a hesitant transverse cut running inside one of the longer edges. Both faces of the silver are plain, and the fragment is flat. Maximum length 14mm x width 9.1mm x thickness 2.6mm. Weight 2.27g. Fragment 2: small 'pie-slice' fragment from a circular lid or vessel rim, with a plain bevelled edge. Modern silver, copper alloy and cloth toy and coin, deposited in the early 20th century The find comprises a much worn silver coin, probably a sixpence of George II (1727 - 60), holed and found directly associated with a toy medalet. The medalet depicts an Edward VII penny and comprises two foils with internal cloth photographs of the royal family, now eroded. The reported object is a small closed thimble made of silver sheet, with the separate crown soldered to the main body. It is complete, although damaged with horizontal, concentric bands of uniformly executed annulets on the external surface and the same annulet pattern on the crown, set in lines. Treasure 2008. Wales : 08.21 The strap-end is in the form of a moulded rod, expanding slightly to form a bifurcated shank. It is broken across the hole for the rivet that would have secured it to the end of a leather strap. Functionally strap-ends existed to reinforce the free ends of leather belts and straps, such as the end of a belt opposite from the buckle, and in some instances to provide some extra weight to help the strap or belt-end hang properly.
