Late Medieval to early Post Medieval loop-handle, probably from a chafing dish and of 15th or 16th century date The piece comprises the handle and fitting or lug for attachment to the dish. The handle is a little irregular and is of hexagonally-faceted section with a maximum thickness of 7.80mm. The handle is 46.47mm long and 58.92mm wide. The outside end of the handle is double-arced. A complete forged copper alloy spiral finger ring of probable Iron Age to Roman date (c. 200BC-AD 410). The ring is of Guiraud Type 7 (Guiraud 1989, 195-6).
The ring is made from a forged bar of copper alloy 4.3- 4.8mm diameter wrapped around to form a ring, completing two full turns. The section of the bar is circular. The internal diameter of the ring is variable with a maximum of 22.1mm. The inner surface has a central seam stretching its length and visible in the terminal sections as a result of the forging process.

A near-complete cast copper alloy brooch of Late Iron Age to Early Roman date, Hull and Hawkes Group K (c.100 BC-AD 50). The brooch is comprised of the wings, bow, foot and catch plate, missing the pin (total length 48.0mm). The ‘wings’ are cylindrical with transverse mouldings imitating a spring mechanism and terminate in flat circular moulded end caps (wing span 30.3mm, diameter of end caps 6.6mm. Description: Gold fede or fidelity ring. The misshapen hoop is of flattened D cross-section. The outer face is decorated with a floral pattern. The inner face of the hoop is inscribed with the text: Let virtue be thy guide, in vertical italic script. There appears to be a touch mark (indistinct) after the inscription.
Internal hoop diameter 14.7 x 16.9mm; band width 4mm; band thickness 1.2mm; weight 3.89g. The ring has not undergone any cleaning or conservation.

A complete, slightly distorted copper alloy child’s bracelet of probable broad Roman date (c. 43-410AD).
The bracelet comprises a single rectangular strip of 4.5mm wide, 2mm thick D-sectioned copper alloy bent into a flattened penannular hoop. The bracelet is twisted in the middle, pushing the terminals of the hoop out of alignment, but otherwise appears to be in its original configuration, with a height of c. 22.5mm, and an external diameter of 34.8mm and an internal diameter of c. 30mm. A near-complete, distorted copper alloy Colchester Derivative Polden Hill (CD PH) type brooch of Roman date (c. 75-175AD). The brooch belongs to Mackreth’s CD PH Type 5.b3. The brooch is intact except for the pin and parts of the catchplate.

The head is globular, flat on the bottom, with four intersecting incised grooves forming a flower or star decoration (external diameter 6.7mm, height 3.2mm). The shank is circular in section (diameter 3.0mm, 9.2mm long) and terminates in a transverse break.
The object has a dark green patina and weighs 1.24g.

The object is half of a curved or circular fitting and is sub-triangular in section with a surviving overall length of 43.9mm. The surviving terminal is rounded and decorated with a small circular moulding (max thickness 5.0mm) and a small integrally cast knop/spike projecting outwards from the side. The object has an old break at the apex of the curve. The surviving original surface suggests the shallow central ridge was decorated with small notches. The reverse is flat and undecorated.

A fragmentary cast copper alloy ring, possibly from a harness, of uncertain date. The ring is missing over half of the hoop in old damage with surviving measurements 25.5mm long x 7.2mm max diameter. The ring is roughly D-shaped/sub-triangular in section with a shallow central ridge along the outer surface and small angular wear facets visible at the breaks. There is no visible evidence for surface decoration. It is difficult to determine function with so little remaining, but it may be a fragment of a harness ring. The metal has a smooth dark green mottled patina and weighs 6.51g.

The object comprises of part of the tang and a significant part of the blade. The chisel tang is oval in cross-section, and has a surviving length of 19.03mm from the break to the collar. The break is worn and heavily patinated suggesting damage in antiquity. The tang flares as it reaches the collar which is sub oval in form.
