A lead object of unknown function and date.  The object comprises three rods joined at the centre to make a three-dimensional shape with six cylindrical rods projecting in different directions. The object has been damaged with some of the rods bent, but would have projected from the centre at right angles. Although these objects are commonly found, they are poorly understood. The object is sub-circular in plan with iron corrosion product on two sides indicating it is probably perforated by a small iron rod, which suggests it may be related to a structure/building. A cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Polden Hill type (1st century AD). The brooch is fragmentary missing the leg and pin and spring (with a surviving length of 29mm). The spring would have fit inside the wings (which measure 29.3mm wide) and secured between perforated lateral lugs on each end. A cast lead biconical spindle whorl of medieval date (c. 1200-1500 AD). The object is biconical in shape with a wide central perforation (10.6mm diameter). Both sides are decorated with a design of raised, radiating ribs with pellets between each rib. The number of pellets varies- one side has only single (or no) pellets between the ribs, while the other has one, two, or three pellets between each rib. The metal has white patina with patches of grey metallic lead showing through in places.
