The casing has an embossed heraldic shield device (35.3mm long by 27.8mm wide) comprising three chevrons, the upper chevron abuts the top of the shield. Description The reported object is the body of a silver annular brooch; the pin is missing. The brooch has been created by filing down the rim of, and removing the centre from, a silver coin of King Henry VI of England (1422-61); this has created a flat annular brooch with inner diameter of approximately 9mm, outer diameter approximately 22mm, with a thickness of the order of 0.6mm and weight of 2.27g. Description of object: Gold finger-ring with a D-shaped cross-section. Externally undecorated, the flat inner face is engraved in Gothic textura (black-letter) script. The engraving appears inexpert (or corrected) in the centre, and so the reading is not clear. All interpretations agree on the first letter as i and the last two as lt. It seems most likely that it is in English and is to be read leelt, 'loyalty' (leelte is an attested Middle English spelling). Late Medieval lead alloy purse bar, c. 15th or 16th century The purse bar is complete with a length of 53.6mm and a weight of 7.1g. The terminals were pointed with a flange before a recess to secure the missing frame. The bars are of sub-rectangular section with attachment plates beneath. The bar widens (to 10.1mm) and thins (to 3.6mm) at the centre to accommodate a perforation (3.0mm diameter), through which the loop would have passed. No decoration is evident on the purse bar. The surface is poorly preserved and has a mid-grey colour.
