A near complete cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester Derivative Harlow type, dating to the Roman period (c. 50-80 AD). The brooch is complete apart from the corroded, largely absent spring, pin, and axis bar. The head of the brooch has two rectangular wings 23.4mm wide, and 7.2mm high, with a curved section with a concave reverse to hold the spring. The centre of the reverse of the head has an integral plate with two perforations (now covered by corrosion product) to hold the chord and axis bar.
