An incomplete Roman or Late Iron Age cosmetic mortar of cast copper alloy (100 BC-AD 410). The object is crescent shaped, with knobbed terminals at both ends and a broken attachment loop in the centre of the outside surface of the object. A shallow, sub-lenticular groove 34.5mm in length runs along the inner surface of the crescent. The object is somewhat corroded, with areas of active corrosion and an overall worn grey-green patina.
