Description: small copper-alloy penannular brooch with cast hoop of circular cross-section and tinned spatulate terminals. The pin-head is barrel moulded, of a type found on fifth- and sixth-century penannular brooches such as the example from Porth Dafarch, Anglesey. The hoop is decorated with four groups of fine ribbing (two at the junction with the terminals). The pin has a 14.1mm long, 11.15mm wide, 1.1mm thick flat shield shaped head- a flat end with sides tapers slightly down 9.7mm to rounded corners, from which the sides turn in sharply to meet the top of the shank. The coin is complete although encrusted with dirt.
