Silver shield-shaped commemorative medal. On the obverse is a topographic design of a public building (either a town hall, school or chapel), under which is the legend VAUGHTON BIRM. The reverse bears the legend PRESENTED BY THE INHABITANTS OF ABER & BLAENGWYNFI FOR WAR SERVICE 1914-19. The reverse is hallmarked with the standard mark (i.e. the lion passant), town mark of Birmingham (i.e. anchor in a shield), the year mark of 1919 (i.e. the letter U in a shield) and the maker's stamp of V & S (i.e. Vaughton of Birmingham). Silver fob-seal consisting of an openwork handle, with relatively large suspension loop and an oval matrix. The matrix contains the device of a clenched fist and forearm superimposed over a scythe and set above a linear panel. The Latin motto is arranged around the device and reads 'SINE CLADE STERNO'.
