Core rejuvenation blade, most likely to be of Neolithic date (c. 4000-2500BC). Made of flint. Length = 79.0mm; width = 28.0mm; thickness – 15.0mm; weight = 25.3g. The blade is struck from a blade core with the intention to refresh the striking platform of the core to enable further blades to be removed from it. Blades from such a core could have been retouched and made into scrapers, knives, or other tools.

Description and identification Two halves of a decorated silver annular brooch frame. It is misshapen, with each part forming an elongated ‘U’ shape, which was once likely circular. The level of distortion obscures the form of the decoration on each ‘face’. Decorative gold ring is of part-hollow construction, with a hexagonal bezel set with a small uncut (cabochon) blue sapphire which is now in two fragments. The hoop broadens at the shoulders (the hollow element), where there is a low ridge either side of the bezel. Roman copper alloy brooch of Trumpet type and of 1st or 2nd century AD date The brooch is incomplete, missing the leg and pin and is heavily-corroded (with a surviving length of 31.5mm, a surviving depth of 14.3mm and a weight of 6.0g). The missing spring was secured around a lug at the centre of the rear of the head. Gold iconographic finger-ring of late medieval or very early post-medieval date. It has a flat oval longitudinal bezel, engraved with the images of St Catherine holding a sword in her right hand. Blade-end fragment from a Bronze Age axehead of uncertain type and date. The axe is represented by the end of the blade only and no evidence survives on the broken section for the bottom of a socket. The blade edge and the blade tips have also been lost. The sides of the axe are diverging, possibly resulting in a recurved blade edge. The faces are slightly convex, resulting in an oval section. The axe would have been comparatively slender, probably suggesting the fragment was from a palstave or socketed axe.

This is a blade end fragment of an indeterminate Middle or Late Bronze Age axe. The broken section has eroded, making it difficult to determine if the axe has fractured at the bottom of the socket of a socketed axe of Late Bronze Age type, or through a solid palstave of the Middle to Late Bronze age.
